Without a doubt the biggest game of this group, this game should essentially decide who is going to qualify in first place and you won't be surprised to hear that most people are backing the Germans to do it. What a lot of people won't tell you is that the last 4 fixtures between these 2 sides has thrown up 2 draws and a win for either side! Poland also won at home 2-0 against Germany during the qualifying rounds so Poland can beat Germany, it is not a cut and dry conclusion.
Germany's first foray into these championships was a 2-0 win against Ukraine which on paper looks like an open and shut case, but people who saw the game will know that Ukraine really gave Germany a tough game and could've scored on a few occasions, most notably when Jerome Boateng rescued a goal line clearance. The Germans have by no means hit their stride just yet, however they did win the game 2-0 which is a great opening result.
Poland also won their opening group game against Northern Ireland but despite the attacking power they possess on paper, they only managed to put 1 past arguably one of the worst teams in the competition. Robert Lewandowski had a very quiet afternoon and will need to step up if the Polish are to get anything from this game as well as the usual suspects of Milik, Blaszczykowski and Kapustka.
This game is going to decide who wins the group no doubt, and based on previous results it's a game that genuinely could go either way, and I know people will always fancy Germany to win it, but based on how they played in their last game, it's not a forgone conclusion and Germany cannot be seen as easy winners.
I have resisted the temptation to just say Germany are much better on paper and will win the game, which is what a lot of people will bet on, but just remember, these 2 sides have drawn 2 of their last 4. Poland definitely have the quality to give Germany a game and are a better team than Ukraine, if Poland get the chances that Ukraine got then they are far more likely to put them away. Has to be a score draw for me, opening the group up even more!
Thomas Muller loves scoring goals in international tournaments and one thing is for sure, he will definitely get a couple of chances. He had a couple last game and they didn't quite come off so he will be even more determined to score against the Poles. Lewandowski is probably one of the best strikers in the world, certainly in Euro 2016, you always have to fancy him to score a goal whenever he plays. Therefore both of them to score is a sound bet.
I may be aiming a bit high here because we haven't had many high scoring games or draws but I can see both teams scoring here with the quality they possess up front and I also think it will be an open, end to end game which obviously means more chances! Manuel Neuer may have other ideas but I'm sure Lewandowski will have been doing his homework on him this season at Bayern. I think we're in for a cracker.
I think Poland will score first and Germany will go in at half-time needing to respond. They will respond because Germany always do and Joachim Low has an excellent team and mentality at his disposal, this bet will probably have quite high odds too.
Robert Lewandowski had a very quiet game against Northern Ireland and that will have irked him a lot. He likes to be the main man and will be redoubling his efforts to get amongst the goals for Poland again. He's a top quality player and you can never count him out. Milik is also a very good shout, as well as Muller but I'm going to go for Lewandowski on this occasion as I think Poland will score first.
This young lad came out of nowhere against Northern Ireland and impressed fans and pundits alike. He is definitely going on to bigger things than playing for Cracovia in the Polish First Division and he could well score here, I know it's against Germany and he's only had one good game but that's precisely why he'd be worth a couple of quid (no more than that) just to see how he gets on against the big boys.
